SEPTEMBER 2016 – The Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy is pleased to honour Marshall Moleschi, who recently retired as Registrar of the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and is a Past President for the Foundation, with its Lifetime Achievement Award. “I have always valued the work of the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy and am sincerely humbled to be a recipient of this award,” says Moleschi.
While at OCP and also while Registrar for the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, Moleschi tirelessly advocated for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to embrace the opportunities to improve services to patients under an expanded scope of practice. When asked to name what stands out among his achievements, Moleschi immediately replies, “the regulation of pharmacy technicians.” He also recalls the changes made to the hospital structure in northern B.C. to enable pharmacists to work fully as clinicians. “Both had the same impact: to enhance the value of pharmacy professionals to impact patient health outcomes, which is really the driver of what we are all striving for.”
His words of advice to all pharmacists striving to do more for patients: “Believe in yourself, trust in your knowledge and remember, if the intention of your actions are always guided by the best interest of your patient, you will always be okay.”
While at OCP, Moleschi also evolved the practice assessment process to include coaching for pharmacists to encourage the delivery of expanded pharmacy services.
