Practising pharmacists and pharmacy researchers can now receive up to $100,000 in grants per year from CFP’s Innovation Fund. The previous maximum was $50,000. “Now more than ever there is a great need for evidence supporting expanded scope of pharmacy practice. We thought we could do our part by increasing the amount of funding available for practice research,” says Dayle Acorn, Executive Director.
The first step of the application process, when applicants submit a two-page Letter of Intent, is due May 16. CFP’s Board then selects finalists, who are asked to submit a full application by late July or early August. CFP awarded three Innovation Fund grants in 2015, and has awarded a total of 14 grants since launching the Fund in 2007.
Tickets are also now available for CFP’s annual Innovation Gala. Attendees will learn of the goals and achievements of grant recipients and hear from guest speakers. This year’s Gala features pharmacist Jeff Yurek, an Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament and PC Critic of Health, and Nancy Waite, a lead researcher with the government-funded Ontario Pharmacy Research Collaboration (OPEN), which has begun to release its findings on the outcomes, quality and value of expanded pharmacy services in Ontario.
