Hear updates from our previous grant recipients:

Joey Champigny Innovation Showcase 2024 - Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy

Joey Champigny was part of Jeff Nagge’s (Innovation Fund 2023 recipient) team, which is working on seeking to prove the value of community pharmacist-managed warfarin therapy. Nagge’s study will determine whether patients whose warfarin therapy is managed by their community pharmacist have a lower risk of stroke, systemic embolization, venous thromboembolism and hemorrhage, compared to those whose warfarin is managed by their family physician.

Beth Sproule Innovation Showcase 2024 - Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy

Beth Sproule has taken over Laura Murphy’s (Innovation Fund 2019 recipient) work. A $25,000 grant from the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy’s Innovation Fund will see the development and study of a program to help community pharmacists identify and support patients using medical cannabis, as part of routine care.

Karen Riley Innovation Showcase 2024 - Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy

Karen Riley (Innovation Fund 2022 recipient) will talk about how she and her team are comparing the average number of potential drug-related problems that are flagged when community pharmacists use electronic screening tools (ESTs) during medication reviews (MRs) versus usual practices. The goal is to determine whether an EST can improve not only the quality of pharmacist-led MRs, but also the efficiency.
