How do patients view pharmacists?

The upcoming 2014 Changing Face of Pharmacy report focuses on the patient perspective.

October 2014 – Learn what patients think about pharmacists’ expanding role at the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy’s (CFP’s) annual Pharmacy Forum, held this year at the Mississauga Convention Centre on October 15.

Representatives for patients with diabetes and arthritis are among the presenters, and Ross Mayot, Vice President, Community Development at the Canadian Association for Retirement Persons, will share the perceptions and opinions of aging baby boomers as well as the elderly. A panel of pharmacists who are actively providing services under an expanded scope of practice including John Shaske of Howe Sound Pharmacy in Gibson, B.C., currently participating in a pilot project that is capturing data on medication management services will then offer practical strategies and lessons learned.

Dr. Roderick Slavcev, Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo, will speak to the “new empowered consumer” and Denise Carpenter, President and CEO of Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada (formerly Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores), will present highlights from the association’s recent patient behavioural research.

Attendees will also receive, hot off the press, CFP’s 2014 Changing Face of Pharmacy report, which similarly focuses on the views of patients. The report also contains an up-to-date chart on provincially funded pharmacist services, including claims data.
