Introducing….Pharmacy Management in Canada

June 2015—The much-anticipated Pharmacy Management in Canada textbook will be available in July.

The first textbook dedicated to pharmacy management since 1998, it provides all-Canadian content written and reviewed by experts across the country with multiple years of experience in pharmacy management.

“With the ever-changing scope of practice for pharmacists and the need for maintaining clinical expertise, often management issues are not given the same dedicated focus,” says Editor-in-Chief Wayne Hindmarsh. “I congratulate the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy for leading this initiative.”

Featuring 12 sections, Pharmacy Management in Canada focuses on everything from developing a strategic business plan and financial management of your practice, to marketing and quality control. There is also an entire section dedicated to developing, implementing and managing clinical pharmacy services.

“The transformation of pharmacy practice is a tremendous opportunity for pharmacists to improve the accessibility of health services, drug therapies, and patient counseling,” says Andrew Parkes, President, Guardian I.D.A. Drug Stores, McKesson Canada. “This textbook represents a great resource for students and practising pharmacists as they continue their journey towards better business, better practice and better health.”

Dayle Acorn, CFP’s executive director, says the time is right for an all-in-one resource for pharmacists and students that focuses on all aspects of the profession. “I expect this to be a useful tool for many years to come.”

Pharmacy Management in Canada, available in hardcopy or e-book, was made possible through the generous support of numerous personal and corporate donors such as Greenshield Canada, McKesson and Pharmascience. In fact, more than 30 individual pharmacists donated $1,000 each in support of the initiative.

To pre-order a copy of the textbook, which sells for $149, contact dacorn@cfpnet.ca.
