JUNE 2021 – A strategic, structured approach to facilitate practice change is doable, and can have a positive, sustainable impact on both the delivery of expanded services and staff satisfaction.
The Prescription to Thrive (Rx to Thrive) program—spearheaded in 2018 by the Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia (PANS) and funded by the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy and other stakeholders, including the provincial government—set out to develop a model for practice-centred change to incorporate expanded services into the daily workflow of community pharmacies.
Now with the successful completion of its first two phases, the program is being rolled out to other pharmacies across the province.
By building the capacity of the pharmacy teams through improved time management, workflow, clinical skills and technology, pharmacy can embrace emerging opportunities to serve the public, such as stepping to the forefront of COVID-19 mass vaccination efforts, says Glenn Rodrigues, one of PANS’ original program facilitators for Rx To Thrive.
