UPDATED MARCH 2021 (from October 2020) – Those interested in learning more about the business of pharmacy can check out the online learning program, Managing Your Pharmacy: The Business Essentials.
The self-directed program, based on the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy’s comprehensive Pharmacy Management in Canada textbook, can be taken by individual modules or in its entirety (seven modules). Learners who complete the whole program also get a free copy of the textbook.
Geared to pharmacists and pharmacy students, Managing Your Pharmacy was developed by the Canadian Pharmacists Association, Ontario Pharmacists Association and CFP. It focuses on how to apply business management theory to daily pharmacy operations and taps into the skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage a pharmacy as a business.
The educational material is fleshed out with case studies and real-world learnings from pharmacy leaders. Topics range from marketing and communications to optimize your practice, to how to deliver patient-focused services that will meet the needs of patients.
