AUGUST 2022 – After a pandemic delay, it’s finally time to celebrate Rita Winn, recipient of CFP’s Pillar of Pharmacy Award. She will be honoured with a celebratory awards dinner at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel on November 7, 2022.
Winn has spent the last 40+ years in community pharmacy, including 22 years at Lovell Drugs where she served as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer. Even though she is nearing retirement now, she still serves as Director at Lovell Drugs, providing guidance and advice, as well as liasing with the regulatory college as needed. Winn is also the Board Chair for the Neighbourhood Pharmacy Assocation of Canada.
Her secret to success is working hard and doing right by her patients—and having a passion for learning. “I probably have more continuing education credits than most practising pharmacists,” she says.
A true advocate for the profession, she says it’s essential for pharmacists and their teams to share ideas. “You can influence people and make positive changes by sharing ideas,” says Winn. “Maybe you can’t do anything about it yourself, but someone else will.”
The Pillar of Pharmacy Award celebrates the achievements of an individual who has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to the profession of pharmacy. Click here for more details on the nomination process.
