Artificial intelligence (AI) “scribes” reduce the burden of documentation by converting complex consultations into clear, accurate notes. This one-year study, with funding from the Nashat Family Community Pharmacy Fund, will be the first to assess the use of AI scribes in real-world pharmacy settings. Mark Makowsky and researchers at the University of Alberta will work with 40 pharmacists in Alberta and the focus will be on acute respiratory tract infections, a common reason patients seek care from pharmacists.
