Using AI to improve access and quality of care for minor-ailment assessments

This project evaluates whether clinical support tools assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) enable pharmacists to deliver faster, more consistent and better-quality care for patients presenting with minor ailments.

Aiskyra will work with five to seven Ontario community pharmacies to assess the use of two of its two AI tools:

  • the AI Scribe, which captures the encounter and generates structured clinical documentation; and
  • the AI Drug Information Assistant, which performs a post-encounter analysis to identify assessment gaps, missed exclusion criteria, and additional evidence-based care opportunities such as vaccinations or over-the-counter product recommendations.

Aiskyra’s analysis of the aggregate data will identify where gaps most commonly occur and where pharmacists are excelling. It will also measure documentation time, clinical completeness, care opportunities identified per encounter, and patient-reported experience. Aiskyra will submit its findings to a peer-reviewed Canadian pharmacy journal and offer to present them at national and provincial pharmacy conferences.
