Changes on the board at CFP

MARCH 2017 – The Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy welcomes its newest 2017 board members: Grant Gunn, senior manager Government Affairs with Amgen Canada, Sherif Guorgui, CEO of United Pharma Group, Dr. Jean Lefebvre, Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Laval University, and Iris Krawchenko, clinical pharmacist in the Hamilton Family Health Team and principal of her own pharmacist consultant practice.

Derek Desrosiers, who takes over from Dr. David Edwards as CFP president for 2017, says a key role will be to further raise awareness of the Foundation’s contribution to the profession. “CFP has taken on the biggest role in the country in terms of recognizing leadership through its various awards and grants,” he says. “It’s important to continue this recognition as it will help shape future generations of pharmacists.”Krawchenko says serving on the board provides her with an “excellent opportunity” to give back to the profession. “By way of generous grants, CFP funds innovative pharmacy practice research throughout Canada and I truly believe that this financial assistance will translate into positive and transformational change for our profession and for patient care,” she says.  I will continue to encourage all pharmacists and pharmacy stakeholders to support CFP in order to help fund the future of pharmacy practice.”

Desrosiers says he intends to work with other pharmacy organizations across the country to ensure all their members are aware of the Foundation’s work. “CFP is supporting innovation throughout pharmacy and that really does help to move the profession forward and stake out new ground,” he says. “Through research we can help make the economic case to pay for pharmacy services going forward.”
