In fulfilling its mission to advance the pharmacy profession by supporting innovation and leadership, the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy is providing valuable resources to pharmacy students and celebrating those already demonstrating their passion for the profession.
Guy Genest Award
For the past five years, the Foundation has been sponsoring the Guy Genest Passion for Pharmacy Award, which recognizes one individual from each Faculty/School of Pharmacy in Canada who has demonstrated a notable passion and dedication to the profession.
CFP’s Executive Director Linda Prytula recently teamed up with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI) to present the award to 12 worthy students at CAPSI’s annual Professional Development Week in Halifax, Nova Scotia in January.
“At CFP we really believe in supporting upcoming pharmacists who will inevitably shape the future of health care in Canada,” says Prytula. “I have every confidence that each of these pharmacy student winners will make their successful mark in the profession.” The winning recipients of the 2024-2025 Guy Genest Award are:
- Charlotte Campbell (Memorial University of Newfoundland)
- Vincent Chiang (University of Alberta)
- Alice Côté (Université de Montreal)
- Emily Galey (University of Saskatchewan)
- Mona-Maria Germanos (University of Ottawa)
- Allison Lage (University of Manitoba)
- Alexia Laurin (University of Ottawa)
- Sonia Plaha (University of British Columbia)
- Marianne Prud’Homme (Université Laval)
- Meriam Salih (University of Toronto)
- Cassandra Van Drunen (University of Waterloo)
- Alex Wade (Dalhousie University)
Pharmacy management textbooks
For a second year in a row, the Foundation has provided free copies of its Pharmacy Management in Canada textbook, generously donated by Shoppers Drug Mart/Loblaws, to second-year pharmacy students at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.

Prytula, who presented the books to the students last month, says they were excited to peruse a Canadian textbook exclusively dedicated to pharmacy management.
CFP’s textbook can be purchased for $184 ($146.75 for students) through the Canadian Pharmacist Association.
